Duke's Cornet places 36th at U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials

INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA - Duke University swimmer Lauren Cornet (Great Falls,
Virginia) competed at the 2000 U.S. Olympic Swimming trials on August 10,
2000 at the Indiana University Natatorium.
Cornet, an imcoming freshman at Duke, finished in 36th place in the prelimimaries of the women's 100-meter breastroke with a time of 1:13.04. Cornet's seed time for the trials was 95th in a field of 97 breastrokers, but managed to improve her career-best by over 1.5 seconds.
She was captain of the Virginia State Champion team a year ago at Langley High School and earned two first place finishes and set state records in two individual events.
Duke will begin its season at UNC-Wilmington on Sat., Nov. 4th at 2 p.m.
