Sophomore Ryan Blaum was one of three individuals to tie for the lowest score of the day as he carded a seven-under-par 65 and guided Duke into an eighth-place tie after two rounds of the Carpet Capital Collegiate on Saturday at the par-72, 7,010-yard Farm Golf Club in Rocky Face, Ga.
Clemson leads the team event after 36 holes with a total of 568, followed by Florida (572), Georgia (573), Texas (577), Augusta State (579), Georgia Tech (580), South Carolina (585), Duke (590), TCU (590), UNLV (592), Auburn (592), Wake Forest (596), Tennessee (597), Vanderbilt (598), N.C. State (599), Oklahoma (602), East Tennessee State (610) and Southern California (611).
Jason Hartwick of Texas is the individual leader with a two-round total of eight-under-par 136 (71-65).
Blaum jumped into a tie for eighth place on Saturday. His 77-65=142 places him at two-under par and six strokes off the lead. Fellow sophomore Nathan Smith carded a three-under-par 69 on Saturday. His two-day total of 78-69=147 ranks in a tie for 32nd place. Junior Tom Lefebvre (73-77=150; T47th), senior Mike Castleforte (78-73=151; T56th) and senior Rob Beasley (78-78=156; T75th) rounded out the lineup for the Blue Devils.
As a team, Duke's second-round total of 284 was four-under-par and tied for the sixth-best score of the day. The Carpet Capital Collegiate concludes on Sunday.
