- With the 86-74 win over N.C. State, Duke improves to 12-0 on the season and 2-0 in the ACC. Duke broke a two-game losing streak to N.C. State at the RBC Center but owns a 4-2 record against the Wolfpack at the RBC Center and a three-game overall win streak in the arena, winning in the first- and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament a season ago. Duke is now 129-95 against State all time and 38-18 under Coach K.
- Duke remains one of only four undefeated teams in Division I.
- Duke has won 128 of its last 155 games away from Cameron Indoor Stadium and 41 of its last 52 ACC road games.
- Senior Daniel Ewing scored 17 points, dished out four assists and had three steals against N.C. State. In 117 career games, it was Ewing's 100th career victory.
- Shelden Williams led Duke with 22 points and three blocks and added six rebounds and a pair of steals against N.C. State. It marked Williams second 20-point performance of 2004-05 and ninth of his career.
- Junior Lee Melchionni scored a career-high 16 points off of a 6-of-9 shooting performance, including 3-of-6 from behind the arc in 25 minutes.
- Freshman DeMarcus Nelson led all bench scorers in the game with 15 points in 28 minutes of action.
- J.J. Redick hit all six of his free throws against N.C. State and has now hit 69-of-73 in 2004-05 (.945) and 314-of-334 in his career. He ranks as the all-time NCAA career leader in free throw percentage.
- Winning its 12th straight game to open the 2004-05 season, Duke has now started 12-0 or better for the 10th time in school history, including the seventh time under Coach K. The 12-0 mark is tied for the fifth-best overall start in school history.
- Duke's 12 game win streak is the nation's fourth longest such streak.
- Duke is now 4-0 this season in January and have won their last 15 games in the first month of the year. Under Coach K, Duke is 167-50 in January.
- Duke has now won 1749 games all time.
