COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS - Fifth-seeded and fifth-ranked Ludovic Walter of Duke suffered a straight set defeat to 46th-ranked Luke Shields of Boise State on Thursday in the second round of the 2005 NCAA Singles Championship held on the campus of Texas A&M in College Station, Texas.

Shields earned a 6-4, 6-2 win over Walter, and advances to meet UCLA's Benjamin Kohlloeffel, a three-set winner over Rylan Rizza of Virginia.

Walter ends the season with a 25-10 overall singles ledger.

The Duke men's tennis team faced Wake Forest in the quarterfinals of the ACC Championship.
