
Four Singles Players, One Doubles Team Advance In ITA Regional Action

DURHAM, N.C. - Mideast Regional play continued on Friday at Duke and North Carolina, as four Duke singles players advanced to the round of 16 and one doubles tandem advanced to the quarterfinals.
Singles action saw freshman Dylan Arnould, sophomore Kiril Dimitrov, and seniors Joey Atas and Peter Rodrigues each post two wins on Friday en route to the round of 16. Arnould defeated Chris Louis of Richmond (6-0, 6-4) and Jean-Yves Aubone (7-5, 6-1) and is set to meet Arnaud Lecloerec at 9 a.m. on Saturday.
Dimitrov posted wins over Ygenny Supeko of USC (7-6 (4), 6-1) and Predrag Bumazovic of East Tennesse State (6-0, 6-4), and will meet teammate, Atas, at 10:45 a.m. in the round of 16. Atas recorded wins over Chris Cloer of Florida State (6-4, 6-0) and Nick Cavady of N.C. State (6-3, 6-4) on Friday.
Rodrigues defeated Gustav Asplund of Elon (6-4, 6-0) and Damien Lacombe of Virginia Commonwealth (6-3, 2-6, 6-1) on Friday and will meet William Nesbitt at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
Freshman Aaron Carpenter posted a win over Jarmaine Jenkins of Clemson (2-6, 6-4, 6-2) before falling to Martin Sayer (6-3, 6-2) in the round of 32.
Doubles action saw Atas combine with junior David Goulet to record an 8-4 victory over Scott Fink and Andy Orban of Maryland, as the duo advanced to the quarterfinals. The duo will meet Daniel Dosseter and James Eason (Citadel) at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Also in action in the doubles bracket on Friday were the Duke duos of Arnould and Rodrigues and Dimitrov and junior Ned Samuelson. Arnould and Rodrigues fell to Cory Parr and Charles Sartor of Wake Forest (8-6) while Dimitrov and Samuelson were defeated by Lenny Gullan and David Stone of North Carolina (8-5).
Mideast Regional action will run through Sunday, Oct. 27 with the remaining matches set to be played at North Carolina.
