DURHAM, N.C. - Senior defender Shayna McGeehan and senior goalkeeper Caitlin Williams have been selected as 2007 NFHCA Division I Senior All-Stars, as was announced on Monday, Oct. 22, by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association.
The game will be played on Saturday, Nov. 17, 2007, at the University of Maryland in College Park, Md. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
McGeehan has started all 17 games for the Blue Devils this season and has not been in the starting lineup just twice in 82 games for her career. An invaluable player on the defensive end, the Grantville, Pa., native has found her way into Duke's offensive scheme this season, netting three goals - including two game-winners - after recording just one tally prior to her senior campaign. McGeehan has one defensive save to her credit in 2007, along with six points to go along with a team-high shot percentage of .600 (3-for-5).
Williams has been Duke's starting goalkeeper for the past two years and has started 52 of the 54 games she has appeared in for her career. In 2006, the Greenland, N.H., native recorded 74 saves on the season and has already surpassed that total with an ACC-leading 98 stops in 2007. Williams had a career-high tying 11 saves at Boston University on Sept. 30, and has notched four shutouts on the year for the Blue Devils to put her career total at 15. The keeper holds a goals against average of 1.76 for the year and boasts a .766 save percentage.
Duke (11-6, 1-3 ACC) will close out the 2007 regular season with an ACC contest at Virginia on Saturday at 1 p.m. Up next is the ACC Tournament, which will be held on Nov. 1-4 in Chestnut Hill, Mass.
