No. 17 Duke Claims 6-1 Victory Over Georgia Tech

ATLANTA, Ga. - The 17th-ranked Duke men's tennis team defeated No. 42 Georgia Tech, 6-1, on Sunday afternoon at the Bill Moore Tennis Center. The Blue Devils improved to 8-6 (1-1 ACC) with the win, while the Yellow Jackets fell to 5-10 (2-3 ACC).

Duke swept the doubles point, as the Blue Devil duo of junior Alex Stone and freshman Dylan Arnould defeated Jose Muguruza and Scott Blackmon, 8-4, at the No. 2 slot and the eighth-ranked tandem of seniro Joey Atas and junior David Goulet defeated George Gvelesiani and Eric Molnar, 9-7, at No. 1 to clinch the point for the Blue Devils.

Senior Peter Rodrigues and sophomore Kiril Dimitrov also combined for at the No. 3 spot, as the duo defeated Jordan DeLass and Luke Rassow-Kantor, 8-6.

Singles action saw Duke take five of six matches.

No. 73 Rodrigues defeated Molnar at the No. 2 spot and No. 101 Arnould posted a win over Zach Rath at No. 5 before Goulet was victorious over Rassow-Kantor at the No. 4 position to clinch the victory for the Blue Devils.

No. 72 Atas and 43rd-ranked Dimitrov were also victorious on the day, while freshman Aaron Carpenter fell to Blackmon at No. 6.

Duke came away with a 6-1 victory and now controls the all-time series with Georgia Tech, 37-13.

Duke will return home for six straight matches - all versus ACC opponents - as the Blue Devils first play host to N.C. State (March 28 - 2:30 p.m.) and Florida State (March 30 - 2:30 p.m.).
