Duke Notes:

No. 4-ranked Duke suffered its first defeat of the season, losing on the road to Michigan 81-73 on Saturday, December 6, 2008, in Crisler Arena. The Blue Devils fall to 8-1 in the 2008-09 season.

Duke vs. Michigan Series
? Duke and Michigan met for the 27th time on Saturday and second time this season. With the Blue Devils' loss on Saturday, the two teams split the two games this year. Duke now leads the all-time series 19-8.
? Duke's seven-game winning streak in the series against Michigan came to a close with a loss on Saturday. The last time Duke lost to Michigan was on Dec. 13, 1997, in an 81-73 contest in Ann Arbor, Mich.

Similar to this year when the two games were 15 days apart, the two meetings in 2000-01 were only eight days apart. The Blue Devils won both games against the Owls, taking the Preseason NIT Championship, 63-61 on Nov. 24, and the following matchup 93-68 on Dec. 2.
? The Blue Devils have faced Michigan twice in the same season two other times. Duke took both meetings in the 1991-92 season. The two games in the 1963-64 season were split with Michigan winning in the regular season and the Blue Devils winning in the NCAA Tournament.
? Duke now has a 62-24 all-time record against schools currently in the Big Ten Conference. The Blue Devils had won its last seven games against Big Ten opponents entering Saturday's game. The last loss for Duke was a 78-68 defeat by Michigan State on March 25, 2005 in the NCAA Tournament. Saturday's contest marked the third of the season for Duke against a Big Ten member. The Blue Devils defeated Michigan, 71-56, in the championship game of the 2K Sports Classic Benefiting Coaches vs. Cancer in Madison Square Garden and won at Purdue, 76-60, in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.

On The Road
? The Blue Devils are now 1-1 on the road this season with a loss to Michigan. It was the second road game this week for Duke, who defeated Purdue, 76-60, in West Lafayette, Ind. on Tuesday.
? In overall road games, Duke has now posted a 185-96 record under Coach K. The Blue Devils have posted a winning record on the road in five straight seasons and 11 of the past 12 years. Since 1996-97, Duke has recorded a 90-31 (.744) record on the road.

Gerald Henderson
