DURHAM, N.C. ? GoDuke.com recently sat down with men's lacrosse defender Jay Jennison for his senior profile. Jennison discusses his favorite professional team, what he admires most about his coach, his favorite sport outside of lacrosse, plus much more.
GoDuke.com: What is your nickname?
Jay Jennison: Piping Hot Jumping Jay Jennison, Frax
GD: What is your favorite professional team?
JJ: Washington Redskins.
GD: What is your favorite movie?
JJ: How about anything from the 80's?
GD: What's the last non-school related book you read?
JJ: Lone Survivor. It's a wild story about the Navy Seal and Special Forces that protect our country. Those guys are nuts; I've got a lot of respect for what they do.
GD: What's your best non-athletic talent?
JJ: I'm getting pretty good at the drums ... not the real drums, though. The drums for the videogame Rockband.
GD: If you could have dinner with four people from history, dead or alive, who would it be and why?
JJ: Gary Gait and all three Powell brothers. No, definitely both my grandfathers. I never had the chance to get to know them and they both did some pretty incredible things in their lives. As far as the other two spots ... hmmm, I'll get back to you.
GD: What's your favorite memory to date of your college career?
JJ: I could say the National Championships, but those haven't ended as planned in the past. So, definitely summer school. Two hours of class into a quick lift and run, grab a bite, and you're around the pool by 2 p.m. Tough life.
GD: What's the thing you most admire about your coach and why?
JJ: Coach Dino tells a great joke.
GD: Where is your secret spot to study?
JJ: The library.
GD: What's your favorite sport, other than your own, to watch on TV?
JJ: MMA ... that's mixed martial arts. Submissions, knockouts ... it's all extreme!
GD: What is your advice to this year's freshmen on your team?
JJ: Don't get flustered.
GD: What concert do you most want to attend that you never have?
JJ: Well, I saw Tiesto last year, and that was cool. So next on the list has to be Guns n' Roses. That's
G n' R circa 1990 ... when they had officially reached super-stardom, before Axl became a prima donna.
GD: What's your favorite video game?
JJ: DUTY! On Carentan, I usually like to set up a trap in the gun room.
