Wrestling Defeats Anderson At N.C. State Duals

DURHAM, N.C.?The Duke University wrestling team remained perfect in dual matches today with a victory over Anderson University, 27-12, at the N.C. State Duals. The Blue Devils move to 4-0 in dual matches this season.

Duke earned wins in seven bouts to take the Trojans by a 27-12 score. The Blue Devils previously defeated Buffalo, Davidson, and Campbell in the Davidson Duals.

Rookie Peter Terrezza garnered four points with a convincing major decision victory, 18-9, over Zach Hamilton at 125 pounds. Duke dropped the contests over the next three weight divisions, but sophomore Mike Bell pulled the Blue Devils within five with a 9-6 decision over Jonathan Jackson in the 157-pound class.

It was all Duke after that as the squad cruised to the 15-point victory. Senior Aaron Glover continued his hot streak, pinning Trevor Sanford in 7:55 to give the Blue Devils a one-point advantage. Glover pushed his season record to 11-5 with the win.

Junior Voris Tejada battled at 174 pounds and cruised past John Hamrick in a major decision, 9-1. The victory kept his dual match record perfect at 4-0. In the 184-pound division, Turner Rooney got the start and stretched Duke's lead to eight points with an 8-6 decision over Zach Anderson. Dan Tulley moved to 10-6 overall on the season with an 8-1 decision at 197 pounds to put the match out of reach.

Rounding out the Blue Devil winners was junior Konrad Dudziak at heavyweight. He registered his seventh major decision of the season, dropping Jonah Adams 13-2. Ranked 11th in the polls, he is now 24-2 overall this season and 3-0 in dual matches.

The Blue Devils next compete on Jan. 17, hosting Wyoming in the home opener in Cameron Indoor Stadium. The match is set to begin at 7 p.m.
