DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke Blue Devils have 14 former players on active NBA rosters at the start of the season, the most of any school in the ACC.
Of the 14 former Duke players, 10 are members of Eastern Conference teams. Three players are on the Indiana Pacers squad, including
Mike Dunleavy,
Dahntay Jones and
Josh McRoberts. Also playing in the Eastern Conference are
Elton Brand (Philadelphia 76ers),
Luol Deng (Chicago Bulls),
Chris Duhon (New York Knicks),
Gerald Henderson (Charlotte Bobcats),
Shavlik Randolph (Miami Heat),
J.J. Redick (Orlando Magic) and
Shelden Williams (Boston Celtics).
There are four players who are on Western Conference team's rosters.
Shane Battier is playing for the Houston Rockets,
Carlos Boozer is with the Utah Jazz,
Grant Hill plays for the Phoenix Suns and
Corey Maggette is with the Golden State Warriors.
Duke also has two former players who are current coaches in the NBA.
Chip Engelland is an assistant coach for the San Antonio Spurs and
Gene Banks is a coach with the Washington Wizards.
