GAINESVILLE, FL -- Three Blue Devils fired one-over 71s on Sunday as Duke shot a five-over 285 in the final round play to finish fifth overall at the SunTrust Gator Invitational with a 54-hole score of 848 (+8). Adam Long, Spencer Anderson and Michael Quagliano each closed the day one-over par to pace the Blue Devils.
Florida captured the team title at its home tournament with a 16-under 824. Mississippi was second with a two-over 842, while Central Florida (846) and Florida State (847) finished just ahead of the Blue Devils. Florida's Toby Ragland won the individual title with a birdie on the seventh playoff hole.
Long was Duke's top finisher with a tie for 17th at two-over (70-71-71=212). Anderson was one shot back in a tie for 22nd. The Pacific Palisades, Calif., native carded a six-under 64 in the second round of play on Saturday for the lowest round in the tournament.
Senior Clark Klaasen finished tied for 26th with a five-over 215. He shot a five-over 75 in the final round of play. Quagliano was tied for 50th with an eight-over 218, while Wes Roach finished tied for 60th with a 10-over 220. Roach shot a two-over 72 in the final round of play on Sunday.
The Blue Devils return to action Feb. 22-24 at the John Hayt Invitational in Jacksonville, Fla.
