Oghobaase Starts Streak Comes To An End
Redshirt senior defensive tackle Vince Oghobaase saw his 38-game starting streak come to an end. It is the first time in Oghobaase's four-year career he did not start a game. His 38-game streak ranked as the eighth longest in the NCAA FBS.
Rucker and Rwabukamba Earn First Starts Of 2009
Redshirt senior Kinney Rucker and redshirt junior Chris Rwabukamba each started on defense for the first time in 2009. Rucker started at defensive tackle for his third career start and Rwabukamba started at cornerback for his fourth career start.
Lewis Scores Sixth Rushing Touchdown
Senior quarterback Thaddeus Lewis recorded a 21-yard touchdown run in the first quarter for his first rushing touchdown of the season and sixth of his career. Lewis has tallied a rushing touchdown in all four seasons of his college career. It also marked the first rushing touchdown of the season for the Blue Devils.
Long Plays
Duke's two offensive plays each went over 20 yards. The first play was a 66-yard pass from Lewis to Austin Kelly. The pass was the longest reception of Kelly's career and longest of the season for Duke. The second play was a 21-yard touchdown run by Lewis, the second longest of his career. The Blue Devils now have eight plays of 20 or more yards this season.
Egboh Collects First Sack Of Year
Redshirt junior Patrick Egboh tallied his first sack of the season and now has 2.5 career sacks. He finished the game with four tackles and one pass defended.
Double Digit Tackles
Sophomore cornerback Lee Butler tallied a career-high 10 tackles, including eight solo stops. His previous high was four tackles against Georgia Tech last season and at Army a week ago.
Blocked PAT
Redshirt sophomore Charlie Hatcher blocked a Kansas PAT attempt in the second quarter for Duke's first blocked kick since Charles Robinson blocked a punt at Vanderbilt on Oct. 25, 2008. The last blocked PAT attempt was by Vince Oghobaase against Connecticut on Sept. 1, 2007.
Snyderwine Makes First Field Goal
Walk-on junior Will Snyderwine made a 37-yard field goal in the third quarter, the first made field goal of his college career.
