GREENSBORO, N.C. – The 2010 Atlantic Coast Conference Field Hockey Championship bracket has been announced with Duke set to face Virginia in the first round. The championship will be held Thursday Nov. 4 – Sunday, Nov. 7 on the campus of Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, N.C.
The Blue Devils' match-up with No. 3-seed Virginia is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 4 at 3:30 p.m., and is preceded by a 1 p.m. tilt between fourth-seed Boston College and fifth-seed Wake Forest to kick off the tournament. Duke will look to avenge Saturday's one-goal loss at the hands of the Cavaliers as the two teams meet in the first round of the conference tournament for the second consecutive season.
Top-ranked Maryland and No. 2 North Carolina earned the No. 1 and No 2. seeds, respectively, as both teams received a first round bye.
The Duke/Virginia winner will advance to the semifinal round and meet North Carolina at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 5, while the Boston College/Wake Forest winner will meet Maryland at 4 p.m. The winner of each semifinal game will receive the day off Saturday, and meet on Sunday, Nov. 7 at 12 p.m. to determine the 2010 ACC champion and the recipient of the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
In addition, the title game will also be broadcast live by the league's regional sports network. The ACC's regional sports network (RSN-TV) includes FSN South, Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic and New England Sports Network.
