To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence - community, classroom, character and competition.
Quinzani paces the Blue Devil offense with 34 goals and six assists for an ACC-best 40 points. He currently sports the nation's longest point-scoring streak at 55 games and has tallied at least three goals in all nine of Duke's games this season.
A two-time honorable mention All-America pick, the native of Duxbury, Mass., excels on the field and in the classroom. He is a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-America choice, becoming the first Duke lacrosse player to earn that distinction. He recently was selected by the ACC as an honorary recipient of the 2010 Weaver-James-Corrigan Award, presented to ACC student-athletes who intend to pursue a graduate degree.
Quinzani currently ranks ninth on Duke's career points list and is third in career goals. During his four-year career, he has helped the Blue Devils win three consecutive ACC titles, advance to the NCAA Semifinals three times and a 55-12 overall record since 2007.
An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in SchoolTM, the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities. The finalists were chosen by a media committee from the list of 20 candidates who were announced in February.
Nationwide balloting begins immediately to determine the winner. Lowe's, an official Corporate Partner of the NCAA, will announce the Senior CLASS AwardTM winner in late May at the NCAA Men's Lacrosse Championships in Baltimore, Maryland.
