For the second consecutive year Duke will participate in the SHinDigZ National Soccer Festival in Fort Wayne, Ind. The Blue Devils will play exhibition games against Indian and IPFW on Aug. 19 and 21, respectively.
The 2011 season officially kicks off on Aug. 26 with a game at Southern Conference rival UNC Greensboro. A trip to Greenville, S.C. for a match against Furman on Aug. 29 will prepare the Blue Devils for their home opener on Sept. 2 in the Duke/Nike Classic.
Duke welcomes UC Santa Barbara and SMU to the annual tournament. The Blue Devils will look to avenge last season's loss to UC Santa Barbara in the first day of the tournament and will tangle with the Mustangs on Sept. 4 to close out the event. Both UCSB and SMU were invited to the NCAA Tournament a year ago with SMU advancing to the quarterfinal round and the Gauchos to the second round.
The challenging ACC schedule opens for Duke on Sept. 9 when it hosts 2009 NCAA Champion Virginia at Koskinen Stadium. After a trip to take on Clemson on Sept. 16, the Blue Devils return to Durham for a three-game homestand in seven days.
Sandwiched between non-conference games against UNC Wilmington and Presbyterian, Duke hosts Wake Forest. The Blue Devils and Demon Deacons kick off on Sept. 23 at 7 p.m.
The grueling schedule continues with a fourth game in 10 days on Sept. 20. The Blue Devils will make the short trip to Chapel Hill for a matchup with rival North Carolina. The contest will be the first installment of the Battle of the Blues presented by Continental Tire for the 2011-12 athletic season.
Duke travels to Davidson on Oct. 4 for another non-conference title before starting a three-game stretch against ACC foes.
The next two weeks for the Blue Devils will offer many challenges. The Blue Devils start the stretch on Oct. 7, hosting NC State. They take to the road for a meeting with Maryland on Oct. 14. Arguably the toughest place to play in the ACC, Duke and the Terrapins kick off at 7:30 p.m. at Ludwig Field.
The Blue Devils finish the three-game stretch at Boston College on Oct. 22 before returning home for the final four matches of the regular season. The homestretch starts on Oct. 25 against UNC Asheville and the ACC schedule comes to a close on Oct. 28 against Virginia Tech.
Duke wraps up the year with a pair of non-conference games against Elon and Mercer on Nov. 1 and Nov. 4 prior to the ACC Tournament.
