DURHAM, N.C. - Duke redshirt senior kicker Will Snyderwine was chosen as one of 30 candidates for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award on Tuesday.
Snyderwine was named a first team All-American last season by the American Football Coaches Association and was a semifinalist for the Lou Groza Award. He was the first All-American kicker in Duke's history. Among the active kickers nationally, he ranks first in field goals made per game (1.65) and third in field goal percentage (.864).
On Duke's career charts, Snyderwine ranks first in field goal percentage, tied for first in PAT percentage (1.000), second in field goals made (38) and sixth in total points (170). He also holds single season records for made field goals (21 in 2010), field goal percentage (.875 in 2010) and consecutive field goals made (18 in 2010).
From the list of 30 candidates, a national media committee will select 10 finalists for the 2011 Lowe's Senior CLASS Award in mid-October. Those 10 names will then be placed on the official ballot for a nationwide vote. Fan balloting will be coupled with votes from coaches and media to determine the recipient of the award.
