Hwang was a double-winner individually for the Blue Devils, sweeping the 50 and 100 free events in Saturday's meet in Columbia, S.C. He tapped the wall at 20.42 to win the 50 free, and edged a field of 11 in the 100 free with a 45.17 clocking. Hwang's mark in the 100 free was Duke's fourth-best of the season overall.
The Cerritos, Calif., native was also instrumental in Duke's relay success on Saturday. Hwang anchored the Blue Devils' first-place 200 medley relay (1:30.36), posting a 19.71 split, in addition to anchoring the winning 400 free relay (3:03.98) with a 44.25 split.
A two-time ACC Performer of the Week already this season, Hwang has established himself among the top freestylers in the nation. His NCAA 'B' qualifying standard of 19.84 in the 50 free against Maryland continues to rank 15th in the country and second in the ACC.
