Danowski Goes for Win 300
Duke head coach John Danowski will be going for his 300th career victory this afternoon ... Danowski is 299-158 in his 29 seasons and will become the sixth Division I head coach in NCAA history to reach the 300-win plateau ... Three active coaches own at least 300 wins with Georgetown leader Dave Urick leading the way with 338 wins ... He currently ranks third among active coaches in wins and is ninth in win percentage (.654).

Duke in Season Openers
Duke sports a 48-24 all-time record in season-openers ... The Blue Devils last lost the first game of the season on Feb. 28, 1998, falling to Maryland 15-9.
Duke/Rutgers Series History
Duke and Rutgers have met just once in 1958 ... The Scarlet Knights defeated the Blue Devils 12-3 in Durham in the lone meeting.
John Galloway Joins Duke Staff
Former Syracuse All-America goaltender John Galloway has joined the Duke coaching staff as a volunteer assistant coach for the 2012 season ... Galloway won a NCAA record 59 contests and was a two-time first team All-America selection during his career ... He is the lone goalie to win NCAA titles as a freshman and sophomore ... He ranks seventh in NCAA history in goals against average.
Offensive Firepower Returns
Duke returns 67 percent of its goal scoring from a year ago, including two of the top three scorers, and 73 percent of its overall points from the 2011 squad ... Top scorers returning are sophomores Jordan Wolf and Christian Walsh, junior Davidson Lawson and seniors Robert Rotanz and Justin Turri ... Zach Howell is Duke's biggest offensive departure after tallying 43 goals and 16 assists as a senior.
Returning to Duke's Defense
The Blue Devils welcome back a wealth of talent on defense this season ... Redshirt senior Michael Manley is back from injury to anchor the close defense, while 2011 starters Bill Conners and Chris Hipps also are back to lead the defense ... Long stick midfielders CJ Costabile and Luke Duprey will lead this corps, while freshman Brian Dailey will be crucial in adding depth ... Greg DeLuca and Brendan Fowler will be key in the defensive midfield along with a host of other players.

Duke redshirt senior midfielder Justin Turri is joined by his brother freshman goaltender Kyle this season ... The Turris are the latest of the many sets of brothers who have worn the Duke lacrosse jersey ... They are the first set of brothers to play together since Dan and Chris Loftus did so from 2005-08.
Lawson & Walsh Riding a Point Scoring Streak
Junior David Lawson and sophomore Christian Walsh enter the 2012 season on scoring streaks ... Lawson has registered at least one point in 17 consecutive games with a combined 22 goals and six assists for 28 points in that span ... He was last held scoreless on Feb. 26, 2011 at Pennsylvania ... Walsh's streak stands at 15 games with 19 goals and 10 assists for 29 points ... He was last held without a point against Mercer, March 13, 2011.

Rullan Pursuing Master's Degree
Fifth-year senior Andrew Rullan returned for another season for the Blue Devils and is pursuing a master's degree at Duke's Pratt School of Engineering ... The Pittsburgh native is enrolled in the prestigious two-year program.
Trio of Blue Devils Enrolled at Fuqua
Fifth-year seniors Stephen Coyle, Christopher Shannon and Justin Turri are currently pursuing a Master of Management Studies degree from Duke's Fuqua School of Business ... The MMS program is a one-year master's program started by Duke in the fall of 2009.
Rookies Earn Top Ratings
Six of Duke's freshmen were peppered throughout the Inside Lacrosse freshmen rankings ... The Blue Devils welcome nine rookies to the program in 2012 - two goaltenders (Krebs, Turri), five midfielders (George, Haus, Kirby, Rowe, Scott), one attackman (Keenan) and one defenseman (Dailey).

Freshmen Kyle Keenan and Kyle Turri will represent the U.S. Under-19 lacrosse team at the 2012 FIL World Championships in Turku, Finland.
Lacrosse Runs in the Haus Family
Freshmen midfielder Will Haus hails from a strong lacrosse background ... His older brother, John, is a junior midfielder at Maryland ... His father, John, was a two-time All-American at North Carolina and currently serves as the head coach at Lebanon Valley College.
