DURHAM, N.C. - In preparation for this year's first meeting of college
basketball's biggest rivalry, the ACC has pulled together game footage from
some of the biggest games in the Duke-North Carolina series in the ACC Vault.
If you needed a refresher as to why the Tobacco Road rivalry is so big,

2011 Cameron Indoor Stadium
After trailing at
home by 14 points at halftime, Duke outscored North Carolina 50-30 in the
second half to win its third straight in the Tobacco Road rivalry. Nolan Smith
scored a career-high 34 points to lead the Blue Devils past the Tar Heels.

Indoor Stadium
Roy Williams was making his first trip to Cameron Indoor Stadium as the new
head coach of the North Carolina Tar Heels. The Duke Blue Devils were not very
welcoming to Coach Williams, as freshman forward Luol Deng scored 25 points and
grabbed five rebounds in a 70-65 victory. The Tar Heels were led by Rashad
McCants (20 points) and Sean May (14 points, 15 rebounds).

Indoor Stadium
Ranked No. 4 in the country and playing at home, Duke came into the game as
the heavy favorite and stormed out to a 42-27 halftime lead. UNC guard Joe
Forte scored 24 points and kept the Tar Heels within striking distance, but
Shane Battier (30 points) and Chris Carrawell (21 points) helped the Blue
Devils pull away in the second half for a 90-76 victory.

Indoor Stadium
It was Senior Day at Cameron Indoor Stadium, and the partisan crowd in
Durham was ready for another epic battle between bitter rivals Duke and North
Carolina. The Blue Devils were led by All-Americans Bobby Hurley and Christian
Laettner, while UNC countered with powerful center Eric Montross and explosive
shooting guard Hubert Davis. It was a closely-contested game throughout, but
Duke was able to pull away in the final two minutes for a 89-77 victory.
Laettner finished with 26 points and 8 rebounds to lead the Blue Devils.

Smith Center
In a clash of elite point guards, King Rice and the No. 4 Tar Heels squared
off with Bobby Hurley and the No. 8 Blue Devils. UNC trailed by 10 points at
halftime, but gained some momentum in the second half to pull within three
points with 1:08 remaining. In the end, Hurley outplayed Rice and finished with
18 points, leading Duke to an 83-77 victory on the road in Chapel Hill.
