Moore Named to Rimington Trophy Watch List

DURHAM, N.C. - Duke redshirt senior Brian Moore was listed among 50 players on the 2012 Rimington Trophy Preseason Watch List. The Rimington Trophy is presented annually to the top center in college football.

A 6-2, 285-pound native of Coral Gables, Fla., Moore started two seasons at guard for the Blue Devils and was projected to start a center in 2011 before suffering a broken arm in August. He returned to action for three games and helped Duke to its best rushing stretch of the season when the Blue Devils churned out at least 100 yards against ACC foes Wake Forest, Virginia Tech and Miami. The Blue Devils averaged 132 rushing yards per game during that span and gave up just three sacks.

A two-time selection to the Academic All-ACC team, Moore helped Duke's passing attack rank second in the ACC in 2011 as quarterback Sean Renfree became just the fourth player in school history to throw for 3,000 or more yards. The Duke offensive line ranked third in the league in sacks allowed per passing attempt as the Blue Devils boasted five players with 30 or more receptions for just the second time in school history.

Since its inception, the Rimington Trophy has raised over $2 million. The twelve-year old award is overseen by the Boomer Esiason Foundation, which is committed to finding a cure for cystic fibrosis and has raised over $86 million for CF Research.

Dave Rimington, the award's namesake, was a consensus first-team All-America center at the University of Nebraska in 1981 and 1982, during which time he became the John Outland Trophy's only double winner as the nation's finest college interior lineman.
