DURHAM, N.C. - Duke women's soccer head coach
Robbie Church announced construction has started this week on the Blue Devil lockerroom renovation project, which is expected to be completed by July 20, prior to student-athletes returning for the 2012 campaign.
In the renovation, the Blue Devils will have wooden lockers installed, new stereo system, couch, a phone charging station, new carpet, new ceiling panels and interior painting, new display boards and track lighting installed.
“We are very excited about the renovation of our lockerroom this summer,” said Church. “With the enhanced renovations to the locker room, our program, which is built around distinction, will have the premier facility of its kind in the nation.”
The Blue Devils are coming off advancing to the 2011 NCAA College Cup, while posting a school-record 22 victories. Duke registered just the second Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) regular season title with an 8-1-1 record and the NCAA College Cup appearance was the first since 1992. As a team, the Blue Devils posted a school-record 16 shutouts.
Duke returns all 11 starters in 2012, while welcoming another standout recruiting class to the mix. Coming off scoring 55 goals last year, the Blue Devils return 91.0 percent of their scoring this season.
