DURHAM, N.C. -- For the second straight year, Duke redshirt senior quarterback Sean Renfree will serve as a counselor at the prestigious Manning Passing Academy, with this year's session set for July 12-15 in Thibodaux, La.
"I'm lucky to have the opportunity to go," Renfree said. "It's great to work with the kids, and then spend time with other college quarterbacks. It's a great experience."
A native of Scottsdale, Ariz., Renfree enters his final season with the Blue Devils having thrown for 6,352 yards and 32 touchdowns. The most accurate passer in school history, he owns two of Duke's top seven passing seasons ever and will begin the 2012 campaign having thrown for at least 150 yards in 17 straight games and 22 of his last 24 outings.
With a third season with 2,500 or more passing yards, Renfree will become the first Duke quarterback to reach the feat in three consecutive seasons. In addition, the two-time Academic All-ACC pick owns eight career 300-yard passing games -- tops among active ACC quarterbacks -- including a career-high 368-yard performance in last year's 20-19 road win over Boston College.
The Blue Devils open the 2012 season with a home contest against FIU on Saturday, Sept. 1, at 7 p.m. Duke season tickets are available online at www.GoDuke.com/tickets or by calling the Duke Athletic Ticket Office at 919-681-BLUE.
