DURHAM, N.C. - The NCAA has released the dates for the NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament first and second rounds, which will be hosted by Duke University in Cameron Indoor Stadium. The Blue Devils will host on Sunday, March 24 and Tuesday, March 26, 2013.
Duke will host the first and second rounds for the third time over the last four years. The Blue Devils are riding a 16-game winning streak in NCAA Tournament games played in Cameron Indoor Stadium. Duke owns an all-time record of 18-2 in NCAA Tournament contests played at home and has hosted games in Cameron 10 times out of 18 appearances.
Other sites hosting in 2013 include Baton Rouge, La. (LSU); Boulder, Colo. (Colorado); College Park, Md. (Maryland); College Station, Texas (Texas A&M); Columbus, Ohio (Ohio State); Durham, N.C. (Duke); Iowa City, Iowa (Iowa); Knoxville, Tenn. (Tennessee); Louisville, Ky. (Louisville); Lubbock, Texas (Texas Tech); Newark, Del. (Delaware); Queens, N.Y. (St. John's); Spokane, Wash. (Gonzaga); Stanford, Calif. (Stanford); Storrs, Conn. (Connecticut), and Waco, Texas (Baylor).
The four regional sites for 2013 are Norfolk, Va.; Oklahoma City, Okla.; Spokane, Wash., and Trenton, N.J.
Duke is coming off advancing to the NCAA Tournament Elite Eight for the third straight year, while producing a 27-6 overall and 15-1 mark in Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) action. The Blue Devils won at least a share of the ACC regular season title for the third straight year and their first outright league crown since the 2006-07 campaign under the direction of
Joanne P. McCallie.
The Blue Devils return four starters --
Chelsea Gray,
Tricia Liston,
Haley Peters and
Elizabeth Williams -- and 88.7 percent of their scoring in 2012-13. Duke will feature one of its most talented and versatile rosters in school history.
