Boone Ready to Continue Duke QB Success

DURHAM, N.C. -- Following in the footsteps of 3,000-yard passers Thaddeus Lewis and Sean Renfree, rising redshirt junior quarterback Anthony Boone takes the reigns of Duke's offense with high expectations of himself.
“I've played a good bit of football,” said Boone. “I feel like the two-quarterback system prepared me for being able to take control of the whole game and lead the team in the right direction and try to win football games and try to win championships.”
A year ago, the Monroe, N.C., native completed 49-of-95 (.516) pass attempts for 531 yards with five touchdowns and two interceptions while rushing 26 times for 82 yards and two touchdowns. He came off the bench to replace injured starter Sean Renfree at Wake Forest, and scored the game-winning touchdown on a four-yard run with 11:35 remaining in the fourth period. One week later, Boone received first career start and directed Duke to a 42-17 home victory over Virginia by completing 18-of-31 (.581) passes for 212 yards and four touchdowns.
