Baseball Adds Home Tournament to 2014 Schedule

DURHAM, N.C. – Duke baseball head coach Chris Pollard has announced the addition of the Duke Baseball Classic presented by Homewood Suites by Hilton RDU/RTP to the Blue Devils' 2014 schedule. In addition to Duke, the four-team tournament, scheduled for Feb. 21-23, will feature Akron, La Salle and Saint Louis.

“We are very excited to announce that 2014 will commence the inaugural year of the Duke Baseball Classic presented by Homewood Suites by Hilton RDU/RTP,” said Pollard. “Around the country, there are several very successful early-season tournaments, and we look forward to bringing this model to Durham.”

Originally set to face Akron in a three-game series, Duke amended its schedule to include the Duke Baseball Classic presented by Homewood Suites by Hilton RDU/RTP, an event the Blue Devils plan to continue in the seasons to follow.

Friday, Feb. 21

Duke vs. La Salle – Jack Coombs Field – 3 p.m.

Saint Louis vs. Akron – Jack Coombs Field – 7 p.m.

Saturday, Feb. 22

Duke vs. Saint Louis – Jack Coombs Field – 1 p.m.

Akron vs. La Salle – USA Baseball Complex – 1 p.m.

Sunday, Feb. 23

La Salle vs. Saint Louis – Jack Coombs Field – 11 a.m.

Duke vs. Akron – Jack Coombs Field – 3 p.m.
