A two-time ACC Academic Honor Roll selection Hayward made six appearances on the mound as a sophomore. He posted a 5.79 ERA with three strikeouts on the year before earning a spot on the Falmouth Commodores roster in the Cape Cod League over the summer.
The Blue Devils are set to open the 2014 season Feb. 14-16 at Jack Coombs Field as Duke hosts 2013 America East champion Binghamton.
