Duke in the NFL: Helfet Scores First Career TD

DURHAM, N.C. -- Entering the seventh week of the NFL season, Duke had five former players on NFL rosters and one on injured reserve. Of the six, two had career-best performances and one continued to becoming a bigger part of the Denver Broncos' offense. A closer look:

Cooper Helfet – Seattle Seahawks
• Made first career start in 28-26 loss to the Rams
• Recorded first career touchdown catch on a 19-yard pass from Russell Wilson in the fourth quarter that cut the deficit to 21-19
• Finished with a career-high, and team second-best, 61 receiving yards. Also hauled in a personal-best three catches
• All three receptions were for 19 or more yards and each resulted in a first down or touchdown

Vincent Rey – Cincinnati Bengals
• Started at middle linebacker and booked a career-high 16 tackles, including a season-best seven solo stops, in a 27-0 loss at Indianapolis
• 16 tackles are tied for the second most in Week 7 and the second most by an NFL player this season behind 17 by Houston's Brian Cushing in Week 3
• Has started three games this season and seven in his career
• Tallied five second quarter tackles and added five in the third quarter

Juwan Thompson – Denver Broncos
• Tallied career second-best six carries for 30 yards in 41-27 victory over the 49ers
• Ended with year-best 5.0 yards per carry
• Part of a Denver offense that helped Peyton Manning establish NFL career record for passing touchdowns with four Sunday night to lift total to 510
