VENICE, Fla. — Following 72 holes of LPGA Stage II Qualifying School, all three Duke golfers competing finished in the top 80 to advance to the third and final stage of qualifying as they all pursue a LPGA Tour card for the 2015 campaign.
Laetitia Beck,
Alejandra Cangrejo and
Yu Liu each closed strong at the Plantation Golf and Country Club in Venice, Fla., to move on to the final qualifying.
Cangrejo, who is a 2014 Duke graduate, finished the highest at tied 22nd, after carding rounds of 74, 72, 72 and 70 for an even-par, 288. The 2013-14 ACC Rookie of the Year, Liu registered rounds of 77, 70, 71 and 72 for a 290 to finish tied 41st. Beck, a two-time All-America and 2014 Blue Devil graduate, concluded her final two days at one-under-par to place tied 78th with a 295.
Ginger Howard earned medalist honors with a nine-under-par, 279. The final stage of qualifying will take place Dec. 3-7 at the LPGA International Golf Course.
