DURHAM, N.C. – Senior setter Kelsey Williams garnered first team Capital One Academic All-District III Volleyball Team honors as announced by the Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Thursday. The accolade is the first Academic All-District III citation of Williams' career.
A psychology major, Williams has directed a Duke offense which ranks first in the ACC and second nationally in kills per set (14.81 kps). The Pleasanton, Calif., native averages 11.53 assists per frame to both lead the league and rank 11th in the country.
Williams has surpassed the 40-assist mark 12 times this season and has three matches with 50 or more assists, including a career-best, 60-assist performance Sept. 26 against Georgia Tech. She is also tied for the team lead with six double-doubles on the year.
To be eligible for academic all-district consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 on a scale of 4.0, and have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings.
First-team Academic All-District ® honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first, second and third team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
