DURHAM, N.C. – Recent Duke University women's soccer graduate
Natasha Anasi has signed a deal with IBV of Iceland to play professional soccer.
One of the best defenders to wear a Blue Devil uniform, Anasi has already reported to Iceland and scored a goal in a 4-2 loss to Breidablik in her professional debut. IBV currently ranks seventh in the Women's Premier League in Iceland with 12 points.
Anasi, a product of Arlington, Texas, played in 97 contests and started her final 73 straight matches, while leading Duke to 39 shutouts on the defensive end. She collected four career goals and six assists to go along with three game-winning tallies. Anasi's 97 matches played set a new Duke career mark along with fellow senior
Laura Weinberg. She is one of only two multiple All-America selections in school history, was a 2011 ACC Defensive Player of the Year and Duke's first finalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy in 2011.
The next match for Anasi and IBV will be July 29 versus Stjarnan. Anasi's deal marks the third Blue Devil from the 2014 graduating class that is playing professionally –
Mollie Pathman (Boston Breakers) and
Kim DeCesare (Eskilstuna United DFF in Sweden).
