DURHAM, N.C. – Freshman Leah Goldman took home ACC Female Swimmer of the Week accolades Tuesday, Jan. 20 after leading the Duke women to a 196-104 dual meet victory over conference opponent Georgia Tech over the weekend.
Goldman collected three individual wins in the 100-yard breaststroke, 100 freestyle and the 100 butterfly to total 27 points Saturday in Atlanta. She also led off the winning 400 freestyle relay to help the Blue Devil women improve to 8-1 on the season (2-1 ACC), marking the program's most dual meet wins since the 2007-08 campaign.
A native of Burlingame, Calif., Goldman has impressed already in her first season of collegiate swimming, breaking into Duke's all-time top-10 list in seven individual events and all five relay events. She currently ranks third in program history in the 100 freestyle (50.24), the 100 butterfly (53.78) and the 200 IM (2:00.30).
Goldman and the Blue Devil swimmers and divers resume competition Friday, Jan. 30 when they face Tobacco Road rival North Carolina in Chapel Hill.
