DURHAM, N.C. – Duke head football coach David Cutcliffe announced on Wednesday the addition of three players and return of a fourth to the Blue Devil program. Running back Jela Duncan, tight end Daniel Helm, defensive lineman Marquies Price and offensive lineman Reno Rosene all have enrolled at Duke for the spring semester.
Duncan, a 5-10, 210-pound native of Charlotte, N.C., returns to the program following a one year suspension from the institution. A two-year letterman in 2012-13, he has appeared in 26 career games at Duke, rushing 222 times for 1,115 yards and seven touchdowns while catching 32 passes for 212 yards and one touchdown. Beginning with the 2015 campaign, Duncan will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.
Helm, a 6-4, 240-pound native of Chatham, Ill., transferred to Duke after playing the 2014 season at the University of Tennessee. Appearing in all 12 games for the Volunteers, he caught six passes for 37 yards. Helm, a former four-star tight end prospect by 247Sports, ESPN, Rivals.com and Scout.com after totaling 79 receptions for 1,386 yards and 30 touchdowns over his final two seasons at Glenwood High School, will sit out the 2015 campaign in compliance with NCAA transfer regulations and have three seasons of eligibility beginning in the fall of 2016.
Both Price and Rosene graduated from high school this past fall.
Price is a 6-6, 220-pound native of Fort Valley, Ga., where he played Peach County High School and helped the Trojans to the AAA Region 2 championship as a senior. Rated as the 64th-best defensive end in the country by ESPN.com, Price carded 76 tackles and five caused fumbles over his final two seasons.
Rosene, a 6-7, 325-pound native of Westlake Village, Calif., was a four-year letterman for Oaks Christian High School and is rated the No. 48 offensive tackle in the country by ESPN.com.
Coming off last season's 9-4 campaign that included an appearance in the 81st Hyundai Sun Bowl, the Blue Devils open spring practice on Friday, February 6.
