DURHAM, N.C. -- Following back-to-back losses against NC State and Miami, the Duke coaching staff felt a change was needed to help the team breakout of the two-game slide. After an extensive conversation on the night of the Miami loss, the coaching staff determined that switching to a zone defense, not typical of head coach Mike Krzyzewski's defensive scheme, would help the Blue Devils right the ship.
Associate head coach Jeff Capel recounts the coaches meeting after the loss to Miami, and how the decision was made to transition into a zone defense. Krzyzewski expands on the defensive adjustments not only this season's team made, but also Duke teams from the past. Junior Amile Jefferson provides a player's perspective on making the transition and embracing the change as a team.
