NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. – For the second time this season, Duke redshirt senior safety Jeremy Cash has been named the Lott IMPACT Player of the Week. Cash booked 11 tackles, 2.5 hits for lost yardage, 1.0 sack, one quarterback hurry and one pass breakup as Duke defeated Virginia Tech 45-43 in four overtimes Saturday.
Cash was also tabbed the Lott IMPACT Player of the Week on September 29 following the Georgia Tech contest. He is first two-time winner of the weekly award this season.
A 6-2, 210-pound product of Miami, Fla., Cash enters this week's game ranked second in the country in tackles for loss per game with 2.00 and is fourth in total TFL with 14.0. He stands second on the team with 58 tackles and paces the squad with 2.5 sacks, eight quarterback pressures and three forced fumbles.
Earlier this month, Cash was placed on six midseason All-America squads and was named a semifinalist for the Jim Thorpe Award.
In recognition of Cash's performance, the Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation, sponsors of the Lott IMPACT Trophy, will make a $1,000 donation to the general scholarship fund at Duke.
