DURHAM, N.C. – Duke University women's soccer standouts
Christina Gibbons and
Lizzy Raben were named to College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District III teams Thursday following a vote of CoSIDA members.
Gibbons earned first team accolades, while Raben was listed on the second team. With being named to the first team, Gibbons moves on to the national ballot for a chance to be selected Academic All-America.
A native of Raleigh, N.C., Gibbons has started all 18 matches for the Blue Devils and played a team-high 1,630 minutes. The 5-6 defender has totaled one goal and three assists. Raben, who hails from Greenwood Village, Colo., owns 13 starts out of 17 matches played on defense for Duke.
The duo have helped a Blue Devil defense to 10 shutouts, which ranks tied second in the ACC this season and is the most for a Duke team since 2011. It is also tied for the eighth most in school history.
Duke will conclude the regular season Sunday, Nov. 1 as the Blue Devils host NC State at 1 p.m. It will mark senior day at Koskinen Stadium.
