Daniel, Sturges Compete at Three Stripe Invitational

CARY, N.C. – Two members of the Duke women's cross country team, junior Gina Daniel and senior Allison Sturges, competed at the Three Stripe Invitational Saturday morning at the WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C., with both Blue Devils placing among the top-20 finishers in the contest.

Daniel paced the duo of Duke harriers, finishing 10th overall with a five-kilometer time of 18:52.81. The Charlotte, N.C., native registered her third top-10 finish of the season, after placing eighth in the season opener and second at the Bull City Classic.

Sturges, a product of Los Altos, Calif., placed 17th overall, clocking a time of 19:38.24. Sturges has consistently appeared in Duke's lineup this season, with Saturday's meet marking her seventh competition of the 2015 campaign.

The Duke women's cross country team resumes competition Friday, Nov. 13, making the trip to Charlottesville, Va., for the NCAA Southeast Regional Championships.
