
Pura Wins Consolation Championship as Duke Ends Fall

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Duke's men's tennis team's final full team performance of the fall featured a consolation title match between a pair of Blue Devils as the squad captured three singles victories, including a flight championship and a third-place finish.
Freshman Vincent Lin and junior TJ Pura faced each other in the A1 consolation finals with Pura coming back to claim a 5-7, 7-6 (1), 1-0 (8) victory.
In the A2 flight, freshman Ryan Dickerson lost a 6-4, 7-5 decision to Dartmouth's Roko Glasnovic in the 11th place match. In the same flight, freshman Adrian Chamdani topped Radford's Janken Thoen 6-3, 7-5 in the 15th place match.
Senior Daniel McCall completed his fall campaign with a 6-4, 6-2 loss to Wake Forest's Anthony Delcore in the seventh place match of the B1 flight. In the B2 flight, classmate Josh Levine downed Alberto Esteban of Tennessee Tech 7-5, 6-2 to take third place.
In the C1 flight, freshman Jason Lapidus dropped a 6-2, 6-0 decision in the fifth place match to Wofford's Alan Poric. Sophomore Andrew DeJoy also completed his fall season in the D1 flight with a 6-0, 5-7, 1-0 (7) loss to Liberty's Max Borcuti in the 15th place match.
Finishing up the doubles action was the A1 flight's No. 2 seed of Lin and freshman Catalin Mateas, who took seventh place with an 8-5 win against Davidson's David Hager and Shamael Chaudhry. The A1 team of McCall and Chamdani placed third with an 8-4 win over East Carolina's Tendai Tapfuma and James Ling.
The lone Blue Devil who has matches remaining in the fall is sophomore Nicolas Alvarez, who will play in the 2015 USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships November 12-15.
