DURHAM, N.C.—The trio of seniors Justin George, Will Haus, and Jack Rowe were selected by their teammates to lead the Duke men's lacrosse team as captains for the 2015 season. The Blue Devils open the campaign Saturday, Feb. 7 at High Point. Faceoff is set for 12 p.m.
George, a Baltimore, Md., native, is a midfielder for the Blue Devils. A strong leader by example, he has played in 21 games in his career and handed out four assists. His leadership extends off the field for the Blue Devils as a three-time ACC Academic Honor Roll honoree.
Duke's defensive midfield anchor, Haus starts his senior season as a preseason All-America pick. He has played in 61 career games and was a USILA All-America honorable mention pick after helping Duke to the 2014 NCAA title. He tallied 11 goals and four assists in 2014, including a highlight-reel goal in the title game against Notre Dame. He also is successful in the classroom, earning ACC Academic Honor Roll recognition in each of his seasons.
Rowe, Duke's top returning faceoff specialist, brings a great personality and work ethic to the program. Playing behind Duke's marathon man Brendan Fowler for the previous two seasons, he has taken 49 faceoffs in his career, winning 23. He is joined on the team this season by his brother, Kyle, who led Stony Brook at the X last season.
Duke, ranked third in the preseason polls, opens the 2015 campaign with a pair of games in two days. The Blue Devils make their debut at Koskinen Stadium Feb. 8 versus Air Force at 12 pm.
