DURHAM, N.C. – After being named the ACC Women's Indoor Track Field Performer of the Year last week, junior pole vaulter Megan Clark transitioned seamlessly into the outdoor season, earning ACC Women's Field Performer of the Week honors, as announced by the conference office Tuesday. The weekly accolade marks the third for Clark in 2015, picking up the honor twice during the indoor season.
Clark opened the 2015 outdoor campaign by placing first in the women's pole vault at the Carolina Relays, clearing 14-3.25 (4.35) to win the event. The Fort Benning, Ga., native cleared every height on her first vault before attempting 14-9.00 (4.50), which would have tied the height she cleared at the NCAA Indoor Championships to place second.
After the opening weekend, Clark's clearance of 14-3.25 stands as the top NCAA Division I outdoor mark in 2015, with Washington's Kristina Owsinski ranking second with a mark of 14-1.25 (4.30). Clark is the school record holder in the event, owning a personal-best outdoor height of 14-7.25 (4.45).
Clark and the rest of the Blue Devils will be back in action next weekend, competing in the Raleigh Relays March 27-28.
