DURHAM, N.C. – Duke rising sophomores
Jake Shuman and
Adam Wood along with recent graduate
Turner Southey-Gordon were named to the 2015 ACC Men's Golf All-Academic Team as announced by the league office Thursday. Duke has now had 30 All-Academic Team selections since the ACC began announcing the teams in 2007.
Wood, Shuman and Southey-Gordon combined for 15 top-20 finishes and 37 rounds of even-par or better golf as Duke posted a pair of tournament wins (Bandon Dunes Championships and Blue Devil Spring Shootout) and reached the NCAA Championship following a third-place finish at the NCAA Lubbock Regional.
Wood led the Blue Devils with a 72.7 stroke average, eight top-20 finishes, three top-10 finishes, six even-par rounds and 15 rounds of even-par or better golf. He was also named to the PING All-East Region Team. Shuman posted a 73.4 stroke average and matched a Duke freshman record with 11 under-par rounds. He narrowly missed All-America status, finishing tied for 16th at the NCAA Championship. Southey-Gordon, a two-time academic team selection, capped off his Duke career with a 74.3 stroke average, eight even-par or better rounds and a pair of top-10 finishes.
