DURHAM, N.C. – Duke sophomore right-hander Bailey Clark is set to join the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team for it five-game series with the Cuban National Team July 1-6. Clark is one of six ACC players on the 26-man roster for this series, along Zack Burdi, Brendan McKay and Corey Ray from Louisville, Tommy DeJuneas from NC State, and Chris Okey from Clemson.
Clark made his USA Baseball debut Monday, June 29, allowing one run on four hits over 2.2 innings in relief while walking one and striking out four. Prior to taking the mound for Team USA, Clark made three starts with the Wareham Gatemen of the Cape Code League. He posted a 3-0 record and 0.56 ERA over 16.0 innings, striking out 11 while walking five.
After limited innings as a freshman, Clark emerged as one of Duke's top arms in 2015 and earned a spot in the Blue Devils' weekend rotation. He led the team with a 2.95 ERA over 13 starts, striking out 49 batters over 58.0 innings. Clark garnered ACC Pitcher of the Week honors Feb. 23 following a shutout victory over Iona. He needed just 85 pitches to toss eight scoreless innings versus the Gaels and struck out a career-high 11 batters.
The USA Baseball Collegiate National Team opens the series against Cuba Wednesday, July 1. Tickets are available at usabaseball.tix.milbstore.com.
