DURHAM, N.C.— Head coach
Dan Brooks and the 2015-16 Duke women's golf team will participate in the 2015 ANNIKA Intercollegiate, which will take place Sept. 27-29 at the Reunion Resort in Orlando, Fla.
The 54-hole stroke play event will be played on the Watson Course at the Reunion Resort and will feature 12 of the top Division I women's programs in the nation. Other teams competing include Arkansas, LSU, Tennessee, Southern California, Texas A&M, Stanford, South Carolina, Arizona, Central Florida, UCLA and Washington.
The tournament was co-founded by the ANNIKA Foundation and Golfweek. During the event, Duke sophomore
Leona Maguire will be recognized as the 2014-15 ANNIKA Award winner as the National Player of the Year.
As he enters his 32nd year at Duke, Brooks will field another very talented roster in 2015-16 that includes two National Players of the Year, Maguire and senior
Celine Boutier. It will mark the first time in NCAA history that a women's golf team will boast two national players of the year on the same squad. Boutier, who hails from Montrouge, France, was the WGCA National Player of the Year in 2013-14. Maguire, a product of Cavan, Ireland, was named the 2014-15 WGCA National Player of the Year.
Other returners for the Blue Devils include senior
Yi Xiao, junior
Sandy Choi, sophomore
Gurbani Singh and sophomore
Lisa Maguire. Duke will welcome
Virginia Elena Carta to the roster, after a standout amateur career. Carta, a native of Udine, Italy, has been a member of the Italian National Team since 2010 and owns seven career victories.
Over Brooks' 31 years at Duke, he has guided the Blue Devils to six NCAA Championships and a NCAA Division I record 122 victories.
