DURHAM, N.C.—Coming off leading the FIBA U19 World Championship in scoring with an 18.4 per game average, Duke University incoming freshman
Angela Salvadores will represent Spain in the FIBA U18 European Championship from July 30 through Aug. 9 in Celje, Slovenia.
In Group B along with Russia, Poland and Portugal, Spain will kick off action July 30 versus Russia. Then Spain will take on Poland July 31 and Portugal Aug. 1. Following group play, the medal play rounds will take place from Aug. 3-8.
During the FIBA U19 World Championship, Salvadores averaged a tournament-best 18.4 points a game in seven contests. A native of Leon, Spain, Salvadores also registered averages of 4.3 assists, 4.1 rebounds and 2.0 steals as Spain advanced to the bronze medal game before falling to Australia. Against Egypt, she posted 25 points, six rebounds and three assists, while also totaling 22 points versus Australia and 21 points against Belgium.
Salvadores, the No. 5 ranked player in the class of 2015 by ESPN HoopGurlz, will be a freshman at Duke in the fall.
