DURHAM, N.C. – TopDrawerSoccer.com released its preseason Best XI teams Monday with Duke University freshman
Taylor Racioppi earning All-Freshman Team honors as the Blue Devils enter their sixth day of preseason action.
Racioppi, who hails from Ocean Township, N.J., arrives in Durham after a decorated high school and club career. A member of the U-20 Women's National Team for the 2014 World Cup in Canada, Racioppi has been a mainstay with U.S. national teams since 2011.
Other rookies selected to the All-Freshman team were Emily Borgmann (Wisconsin), Kelcie Hedge (Washington), Reilly Martin (Michigan), Betsy Brandon (Virginia), Katie Cousins (Tennessee), Tegan McGrady (Stanford), Inga Bakken (UCLA), Kaleigh Riehl (Penn State), Courtney Petersen (Virginia) and Sabrina Macias (BYU).
The 5-5 rookie was ranked as the No. 2 overall player in the class of 2015 by TopDrawerSoccer.com and was a 2013, 2014 and 2015 All-America selection. Racioppi tallied 50 goals, 16 assists and 116 points in three years of high school soccer at Academy of Allied Health and Science. As a senior, she notched 20 goals and 45 points.
Racioppi is expected to make an immediate impact with the Blue Devils in the midfield.
Duke will kick off exhibition action Saturday, Aug. 15 with a 6:00 p.m., match against Clemson. It will be free admission. The Blue Devils will open the regular season in Chapel Hill for the UNC Nike Classic against Fresno State Friday, Aug. 21 at 5:00 p.m.
