DURHAM, N.C. -- The conference office announced the 2015 ACC preseason cross country coaches' polls Wednesday morning, with the Duke women coming in at No. 10. Notre Dame claimed the top spot in this season's preseason rankings.
NC State follows Notre Dame as the second-ranked team in this year's poll, while No. 3 Virginia, No. 4 North Carolina, No. 5 Florida State, No. 6 Syracuse, No. 7 Boston College, No. 8 Virginia Tech and No. 9 Wake Forest also appear in the conference's top 10. Eleventh-ranked Louisville, No. 12 Georgia Tech, No. 13 Clemson, No. 14 Pittsburgh and No. 15 Miami round out the rankings.
North Carolina captured the team title at last season's ACC meet, with Florida State placing second, Virginia coming in third, NC State finishing fourth and Notre Dame clinching fifth.
Duke is set to field a 12-competitor team in 2015 that includes four seniors in Olivia Anderson, Anima Banks, Colleen Schmidt and Allison Sturges, two juniors, Gina Daniel and Madison Granger, one sophomore, Callie Wynn, and five freshmen, Olivia Gwynn, Kim Hallowes, Liz Lansing, Gabrielle Richichi and Sheridan Wilbur. Banks, Granger and Schmidt each participated in last season's conference championship.
After competing in the inaugural Duke Alumni Meet Tuesday, the Blue Devils remain at home, welcoming NC Central to campus Saturday, Sept. 12, for the Bull City Classic. Start time for the meet is set for 9 a.m.
