GREENSBORO, N.C. – With the Atlantic Coast Conference announcing the 2016 All-ACC Academic Women's Indoor Track & Field Team Wednesday, eight Duke student-athletes were honored by the conference. The eight selections led all ACC schools, with Notre Dame's seven the next closest.
Earning spots for the Blue Devils were graduate student Karli Johonnot, seniors Olivia Anderson, Anima Banks, Megan Clark and Maddie Morrow, junior Madeline Kopp, sophomore Madison Heath and freshman MacKenzie Kerr. The award marks the fourth straight year for Banks and Clark, while Johonnot has been named to the list three consecutive seasons and four times over the course of her career. Kopp earns the distinction for the second time in her career, being named to the list previously in 2014, while the remaining four appear on the team for the first time in their respective careers.
To be eligible for the All-ACC Academic Teams, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.0 grade point average for both the previous semester and as a cumulative average during their academic career as undergraduate students. Athletic achievements during the most recent season also factored into the selection process.
The ACC Honor Roll, which recognizes all conference student-athletes with a grade point average of 3.0 for the current academic year, will be released in July.
