DURHAM, N.C. – After a weekend off, the Duke rowing team is back in action Saturday, traveling to Charlottesville, Va., for a dual event against No. 3 Virginia on the Rivanna Reservoir. The first race is set for 6:30 a.m. with the 3V4, followed by the 2V4, V4, 2V8, V8 and 3V8.
"I think we're training really hard and putting in a lot of miles every week," head coach Megan Cooke Carcagno said. "We're refining our stroke and figuring out who we are as a team. Going up against Virginia is never an easy task, but you don't know where you are unless you test yourself against the best.”
In the Blue Devils' last outing, they took part in the Pac-12 Challenge, with the V8, 2V8 and V4 competing against then-No. 9 Stanford and UCLA. The team captured one race, the V4 versus the Bruins.
“The only thing we can control is our own boat, our own gunnels and the way that we approach racing,” Cooke Carcagno added. “I know our team is going to put forth what they can control. I want to see them go as fast as they can down the line.”
After Saturday's dual, the Blue Devils will have next weekend off before heading to Bloomington, Ind., for the Dale England Cup, April 22-23.
