DURHAM, N.C. – With the regular season in the rearview mirror for the Duke track & field program, the Blue Devils will turn their gaze to the postseason, beginning with the ACC Outdoor Championships. Competition will begin Friday, May 13 and run through Sunday, May 15 in Tallahassee, Fla., at Florida State's Mike Long Track.
Setting the Scene
• The Blue Devils will travel to Tallahassee, Fla., to compete in the 2016 ACC Outdoor Track & Field Championships May 13-15 at Florida State's Mike Long Track.
• At the 2015 championship meet, the Duke men finished sixth in the team standings with 53 points. The Blue Devil women scored 51 points to finish eighth.
• All three days of the ACC Championships will feature live coverage on ESPN3, starting at 6 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Calling the action will be Tom Block (PxP) and Lauryn Williams (Color).
Quest for Another Gold
• Redshirt senior Thomas Lang will enter the final ACC Outdoor Championships of his career in search of a third straight title in the men's javelin. Lang's season-best mark of 237-2 (72.29m) currently leads the ACC and ranks 22nd nationally.
• Senior Megan Clark will look to capture the ACC outdoor women's pole vault title for the second consecutive season. The Fort Benning, Ga., native also tops the conference leaderboard with an ACC-record clearance of 15-2.25 (4.63m).
Historic Season for Pole Vaulters
• Clark cemented her spot among the all-time collegiate greats this season by clearing 15-2.25 (4.63m), which set the ACC record and ranks fourth in NCAA outdoor history.
• Clark is one of three collegians to clear at least 15 feet this outdoor season, the most ever in any one season.
• Clark will compete against Miami's Alysha Newman at the ACC Outdoor Championships, who cleared a then-ACC record of 15-1.00 (4.60m) earlier this spring.
• Duke sophomore Madison Heath will enter the weekend ranked third in the ACC behind Clark and Newman with a vault of 14-1.25 (4.30m).
Thompson & Banks Look to Go the Distance
• Senior Anima Banks and graduate student Shaun Thompson lead Duke's men's and women's distance teams, respectively, into the conference championships.
• Banks enters the weekend with the fastest qualifying time in the 800, running a 2:04.38 earlier this spring, while ranking third in the 1,500 at 4:20.99. Nationally, Banks ranks 16th among NCAA Division I 800 runners.
• Thompson, who owns the school record in the men's 10,000 and ranks fourth nationally, will split his workload by running the 5,000 and steeplechase this weekend before returning to the 10K for regionals.
Price's Assault on the Records Book
• Sophomore sprinter Maddy Price kicked off the 2016 outdoor season in impressive fashion, taking down two school records during the first two weeks of competition.
• Price opened the campaign by breaking the women's 100 mark at the Raleigh Relays with a time of 11.65, then set the women's 200 record at the Battle of the Blues the following weekend, clocking a 23.48.
• The sophomore out of Hillsborough, Calif., also ranks second all-time in Duke history in the women's 400 after running a 53.53 at the Mt. SAC Relays.
Contenders in the Heptathlon
• The redshirt senior duo of Teddi Maslowski and Karli Johonnot are eyeing to finish atop the podium at their final ACC Outdoor Championships.
• With a score of 5,569 set at the Mt. SAC Relays earlier this spring, Maslowski ranks second in the ACC and tied for 18th nationally heading into the weekend.
• Johonnot, who claimed the second ACC pentathlon title of her career during the 2016 indoor season, has yet to register a heptathlon score this season but placed fourth in the heptathlon at the 2015 ACC Outdoor Championships.
New Decathlon King to be Crowned
• With senior Robert Rohner and sophomore Tanner Johnson redshirting the 2016 outdoor season, the past two conference champions will be out of contention for the 2016 title.
• Johnson captured gold as a freshman in 2015 with a final score of 7,281, while Rohner accumulated 7,277 points to take the 2014 crown.
• Junior Chaz Hawkins will serve as Duke's lone representative in the 2016 ACC decathlon, owning a personal-best total of 6,718.
