STILLWATER, Okla. – The No. 20 Duke men's golf team shot 321 (+33) as a team on Monday, finishing the first day of the NCAA Stillwater Regional in 13th place.
Oklahoma State, the regional host, currently leads the tournament with a score of 285 (-3). The top five teams in the regional, along with the top individual not on an advancing team, will advance to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore., from May 27-June 1.
Freshman Alex Smalley paced the Blue Devils on Monday with a two-over 74, carding a team-high five birdies. His effort placed him in a tie for 16th place after 18 holes of action.
Junior Matt Oshrine and sophomore Jake Shuman each shot 82 (+10) to finish the day in a tie for 57th place, while sophomore Adam Wood wrapped up first-round play in a tie for 64th with a score of 83 (+11). Junior Max Greyserman rounded out the Duke lineup in a tie for 68th with a mark of 85 (+13).
Duke will be grouped with Alabama State and the tournament's individuals on Tuesday, starting play on the back nine at 10:50 a.m. ET.
